Iligan City
is located at the northwestern coast of Mindanao facing Iligan Bay. It
is 795 kilometers south of Manila and centrally located in the
Visayas-Mindanao domestic market and proximate to the BIMP-East ASEAN
Growth Area. Iligan is a major component of the Cagayan-Iligan
Corridor, the fastest growing regional growth center in Mindanao and one
of the priority investment areas in the Philippines.
Iligan City,
with its famous Ma. Cristina Falls, is the site of Mindanao's electric
power source. It has a total land area of 81,337 hectares comprising 44 barangays, 16 of which are in the hinterland areas.

products produced by the city's 12 manufacturing plants are uPVC
fabricated pipes and fittings, Crude coconut oil, Cochin oil, Edible
oil, Coco pellets, Acid oil, Shortening, Refined bleach and deodorized
oil, Solvent extraction pellets, Expeller cake, Cement, Caustic soda,
Liquid chlorine, Sodium hypochlorite, Hydrochloric acid, Feeds, Flour,
Ferronickel, Bricks, Monolithic, Recapped tires, Cold rolled
coils/sheets.
Natural
attractions of Iligan City include waterfalls, springs, caves and
mountains and man-made attractions include industrial sites and parks,
resorts, amphi-theater, swimming pool complex.
Iligan became a charter city on June 16, 1950 under Republic Act 525. And on October 20, 2009, it became a Lone District.
Cebuano is the major language in the city (about 93%) but majority of the population can speak and understand English.
Currency is in Philippine Peso.
